For the second season in a row, Ian Franks of The College of Wooster was voted as the D3hoops.com Great Lakes Region Player of the Year, the website posted on Tuesday, and the Fighting Scots' senior standout was selected to the All-Great Lakes District First Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, also announced Tuesday.

Franks, a repeat first-team award recipient from the coaches' organization as well, has guided Wooster into this weekend's "Final Four" of the NCAA Div. III Men's Basketball Championship. The 6-4 combo guard currently leads the Scots in scoring (18.0 ppg) and assists (3.3 apg), and is just a few rebounds shy of topping the team in that category (6.4 rpg) as well. Franks has piled up 577 points – the fifth-most for a season in team history – and they've come in a variety of ways as he's shooting 45.3 percent from the field, including 33-of-86 3-pointers (.384), and 81.4 percent during frequent trips to the free throw line (162-for-199).

Franks, previously recognized as the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and company are headed to Salem, Va., for the national semifinals Friday evening. Wooster (30-2) will play in the first one versus Williams College (29-2) at 6 p.m., marking a 2003 rematch between the two schools in the "Final Four." Then, Middlebury College (28-1) and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) (28-3) will take the floor, and the  two winners advance to Saturday's national championship game, starting at 3:30 p.m.
