WOOSTER, Ohio – The 15th-ranked College of Wooster men's basketball team had a pair of 20-point games from its returning All-North Coast Athletic Conference guards, and scored at least 50 points in each half during its 101-84 win over Allegheny College on Wednesday evening at Timken Gymnasium.

Senior Reece Dupler scored a season-high 21 points, was a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor, and matched his career-high with six assists during Wooster's 101-84 win over Allegheny.

Wooster (7-0, 3-0 NCAC) turned to junior Danyon Hempy and senior Reece Dupler to lead the way with just over 15 minutes remaining in the first half, and the duo responded, starting with Hempy's dunk that opened up a 10-0 run. Dupler secured a key rebound on the defensive end of the floor on the ensuing possession prior to connecting with Hempy for the fast-break points with 14:38 that tied the game at 13.

From there, Keonn Scott crossed his Allegheny (4-3, 0-2 NCAC) defender up and rained down a three-pointer, and the sophomore was again on point on the next possession with a pull-up jumper from beyond the arc upping Wooster's lead to 19-13.

Wooster, which led the rest of the way, really started to gain separation near the 9:30 mark of the opening half. Senior Blake Blair connected from range, and then swiped the ball away from Allegheny's Jordan Greynolds, which set up yet another fast-break three-pointer, this time by Hempy. Moments later, Wooster was at it again after junior Trenton Tipton's steal led to a Scott fast-break lay-in that capped a 7-0 spurt and put Wooster up 33-22 with 8:38 left in the half.

For the half, Wooster had 10 fast-break points en route to taking a 51-42 lead into the break. The Scots' final fast-break points of the half came on senior Eric Bulic's lay-in with 6:08 to go.

Allegheny's Jordan Rawls led the Gators on a 6-0 run that pulled the visitors within three at 51-48, but Dupler kept the Scots composed with the first two points of a quick 7-0 swing the other way that saw Wooster's lead balloon back out to 10 when senior Trey Miller finished a fast-break layup.

Wooster saw its lead climb to as many as 24 in the second half, and really ramped up the defensive intensity with just under 12 minutes remaining. The Scots kept the Gators off the scoreboard for a span of 4:45, thanks in large part to steals by Scott and Hempy, both of which led to quick points during a 13-0 run.

Wooster did a much better job with its points off turnovers in the second half, and that was at the forefront of a 6-0 swing that upped the Scots lead to 92-68 with 5:20 remaining. Tipton's steal led to a pair of Hempy free throws, while sophomore Dontae Williams had a steal of his own that preceded a quick Bulic lay-in

Hempy led the Scots with a season- and game-high 25 points, while Dupler went a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor on his march toward a season-best 21 points. Bulic (13), Scott (12), and Williams (11) rounded out the Scots in double figures.

Bulic and Williams accounted for 17 of Wooster's 40 rebounds, while Dupler's six assists matched his career-best.

Wooster shot 53.9 percent (37-for-69) for the game, including a red-hot 63.6 percent (21-for-33) in the opening half. The Scots connected on a season-high 11 three-pointers, and Wooster had assists on 21 of its 37 field goals.

Rawls led Allegheny with 20 points, while rookie Brian Roberts had a fine game with 19 points, thanks in large part to a quartet of three-pointers.

Allegheny shot 43.5 percent (30-for-69) in the game, and finished with 12 turnovers.

Next, Wooster travels to Wabash College (6-0, 2-0 NCAC) for a 2 p.m. game on Saturday. The two teams are the remaining unbeaten squads in the NCAC.
