NABC Team of the Week Release (Jan. 15)

The College of Wooster men's basketball team was selected as the National Association of Basketball Coaches Div. III Team of the Week, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Wooster won a pair of North Coast Athletic Conference road games last week, starting with a 78-53 win over Oberlin College on Wednesday. Wooster's defensive efforts were on point, as the Fighting Scots forced 18 Yeomen turnovers, a total tied for the most by a Wooster opponent this season. Offensively, senior Reece Dupler and junior Danyon Hempy scored a combined 40 points on 16-for-23 shooting.

On Saturday, Wooster upended archrival Wittenberg University in a battle of nationally-ranked teams 73-65. Wooster's second-half efforts enabled the Scots to erase an eight-point halftime deficit. As a team, Wooster had nine turnovers in the win, marking the team's third single-digit total of the season. Individually, Hempy led the way with 16 points and a career-high nine rebounds.

Wooster (12-3, 7-1 North Coast Athletic Conference), up to 21st in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, hosts Denison University (5-9, 2-6 NCAC) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
