NABC Honors Court Release | NABC Team Academic Excellence Award Release

The National Association of Basketball Coaches extended membership in its prestigious Honors Court for a second time to The College of Wooster's Blake Southerland and Trenton Tipton, while the Fighting Scots' program earned the organization's Team Academic Excellence Award. The NABC's annual academic achievements were announced by the organization over the last two days.

Wooster's senior duo helped guide the storied program to a 21-8 record this past year. Wooster made its Div. III-record 18th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Div. III Championships, upped its truly remarkable run of consecutive 20-win seasons to 24, and won the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament for a league-leading 17th time.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes student-athletes with at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA, are at least a junior in academic standing, have matriculated at least one year at their current institution, and whose coach is a member of the NABC. Criteria for the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award includes the program having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for the previous season, and whose coach is a member of the NABC.

Of note, Wooster's had at least two student-athletes qualify for the NABC Honors Court in each of the last four seasons.
