Billings Collects More Honors, Is This Week's NCAC Athlete of the Week
First-year was the Al Van Wie/Wooster Rotary Classic MVP over the weekend
First-year Jamir Billings quickly impressed the crowds at this weekend's Al Van Wie/Wooster Rotary Classic, and on Monday, he earned North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office.
Billings, the Al Van Wie/Wooster Rotary Classic MVP, averaged 14.0 points, 7.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.5 steals during a 2-0 week for Wooster. The first true freshman to start game one of his Wooster career since Eric Bulic in 2015 debuted with nine points, six assists, four rebounds, and three steals in Friday's 75-57 win over Saint Vincent College. On Saturday, Billings led Wooster to an 83-71 win over 2020 NCAA Div. III Championships participant Ripon College with a team-high 19 points, a game-high eight assists, four rebounds, and a game-high four steals. His 14 assists are tied for the third-most in the 27-year history of the Al Van Wie/Wooster Rotary Classic.
Wooster (2-0) is back in action at No. 21 University of Mount Union (4-0) on Wednesday, November 24. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
