Ashton Price, JJ Cline, Wooster Basketball CSC Academic All-District® Release

JJ Cline and Ashton Price from The College of Wooster men's basketball team were among the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honorees as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Cline, a two-year starter, played in all 28 games this season. He averaged career-highs in points (8.6), rebounds (3.7), and assists (1.9) per game. Three-point shooting is where Cline really elevated his game, as the senior shot 41.6 percent (32-of-77) from deep and 51.5 percent (84-of-163) overall. Cline logged his first 20-point game in Wooster's 76-72 win over Ohio Wesleyan University on Jan. 24. He had nine other double-digit scoring performances and logged seven games with at least six rebounds.

The education and mathematics major is a youth group volunteer at Parkview Christian Church. He will be interning at the church this summer assisting with the week-long church camp at Bowling Green State University. He will also be helping lead a wilderness camp and assisting the church with its annual Vacation Bible School. Elsewhere, Cline volunteers with Night to Shine special needs prom events in Wooster and assists the Wooster Kiwanis Club with its annual book sale. Additionally, Cline plans to help coach football at nearby Northwestern High School this fall.

Price, a first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection, was Wooster's leading scorer at 15.7 points per game. The guard shot 50 percent (145-of-290) from the floor, which was tops among NCAC players who made at least five field goals per game. The junior scored in double figures 24 times and had seven 20-point efforts, led by a career-high 27 against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Price dropped 26 points against archrival Wittenberg University in the semifinals of the NCAC Tournament to help Wooster to its rivalry-tying eighth straight win over Tigers. He had four assists in five games, headlined by a career-best seven against DePauw University. Price's 439 points this winter are tied for the 29th-most in program history.

The two-time CSC Academic All-District® qualifier earned his first honor at Baldwin Wallace University before transferring to Wooster. The business economics major works as a basketball trainer and a soccer coach in his hometown of Bay Village and works as a mover for Simple Spaces.

Each school with a CSC membership may submit up to four Academic All-District® honorees for men's basketball. Each nominee must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore in academic standing, and either play in 90 percent of games or start 66 percent of games. The CSC Academic All-America® Team for men's basketball is scheduled to be announced on April 17.
