Our "Senior Salute" series continues with Jamir Billings, a communication studies major from Lorain, Ohio. Billings is a member of the men's basketball team.
Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I wanted small school close to home where I would be able to get a great education and play for a winning basketball program. Wooster ended up being the perfect fit in terms of both schooling and athletics.
Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: Being a Fighting Scot means being dedicated and disciplined in both classroom and on the court.
Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: My favorite memories are traveling to France and watching Turner Kurt hit the game-winner to win the regular season North Coast Athletic Conference championship.
Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: I would say the professors and the surrounding community of Wooster
Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I work in the equipment room and game operations.
Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Coach Doug Cline because he has always supported me and did everything he could to make sure I was comfortable and becoming better, not only as a player, but even more importantly as a person.
Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: My Independent Study is about the change of leadership in Wooster's basketball team that has led to the implementation of different coaching styles to find out if the athletes feel any difference in their sense of team cohesion.
Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: We played the University of South Carolina in an exhibition game.
Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: Enjoy the moment. These four years go back quick.
