Billings Named All-District and All-Region

The College of Wooster's Jamir Billings was named second-team all-district by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and third-team D3hoops.com All-Region 7 on Tuesday.
The two-time NABC All-District guard became men's basketball's seventh four-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection this season. He earned his second first-team All-NCAC honor and was previously a two-time NCAC Top Defensive Player selection. Through games played March 15, Billings ranks seventh nationally with 87 steals, eighth with 3.1 steals per game, 37th with 128 assists, and 46th with 4.6 assists per game.
Billings broke the NCAC's 38-year-old record with his 324th steal in the NCAC Tournament championship game. Billings, who is 13th in NCAA Div. III history in steals, broke his own single-season record with 87 steals as a senior, three more than he had as a first-year and junior. In addition to his program-record in steals, Billings is tops in Wooster history with 596 assists and 20th with 1,270 points.
As a senior, Billings averaged 13.4 points and 5.7 rebounds to pair with his 4.6 assists and 3.1 steals. He scored a season-high 28 points during the program's record ninth straight win over archrival Wittenberg University in January. Billings had nine games with at least four steals, led by seven against Johnson & Wales University Providence in December. The seven steals marked the fifth time Billings had at least seven steals in his career. He passed out a season-high 10 assists in a February win over Ohio Wesleyan University for his 10th game with at least 10 helpers.
Wooster, Div. III's winningest team of the 2000s, went 21-7 for its 36th full season with at least 18 wins. Wooster played in the NCAC Tournament championship game for the 26th time in the last 28 seasons.
