Cline on CSC Academic All-District® Team for Third Time
Senior was a three-year starter
The College of Wooster's JJ Cline was named to College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District® Team for the third time on Tuesday afternoon.
The three-year starter averaged 5.6 points, a career-high 4.0 rebounds, and a career-best 2.3 assists per game as a senior. He scored a career-high 24 points in an 83-76 win over Case Western Reserve University in early December. Cline went 10-of-14 from the floor and passed our four assists in the win. Cline helped Wooster to an early-season win over Yeshiva University, passing out five assists to pair with four rebounds. He had a career-best 12 rebounds in an 82-76 win over Kenyon College in early February. Five of Cline's boards came on the offensive end. That was again the case when Wooster denied Denison University a chance to clinch the NCAC title outright on Feb. 19.
For his career, Cline played in 116 games and averaged 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists. Other signature moments were 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting against Ohio Wesleyan University on Jan. 24, 2024, and 14 points against then-seventh-ranked University of Rochester in 2022.
The education and mathematics major is currently student teaching within Triway Local School District. He is exploring the history and evolution of social and emotional learning for his Independent Study project. Cline works as a stream broadcaster for athletic communication at Wooster and works in the College's athletic equipment room. He previously spent 2024 as an intern with Parkview Christian Church. As a youth group intern, Cline created and led lessons, helped with vacation bible school, and led high school and middle school groups on youth retreats. Cline has field experience as a substitute teacher within Northwestern Local Schools. He plans on becoming a middle or high school mathematics teacher and high school basketball coach in the Wooster area upon graduation.
