Scots Take 11th in Strong Field at Denison
As part of a highly-competitive field at Denison
University’s Ted Barclay Spring Invitational, The College of
Wooster golfers finished in 11th-place with rounds of 320 on
Saturday and 317 Sunday for a 637 total. The 36-hole tourney, which
was won by DePauw University (294-291=585), took place at the
Granville Golf Course in Granville, Ohio.
Individually for the Fighting Scots, freshman Michael Peters
continued his strong play at the top of the lineup, carding a 75 on
the par-71, 6,559-yard course over the first 18 and then a 79 on
Sunday to tie for 27th-place overall (154). He has now shot scores
in the 70s nine of his last 10 competitive rounds.
Wooster’s low scorer the second 18 was fellow first-year
Blake Sword, who turned in a 77 – three strokes better than
his opening round – which put him in a tie for 50th (157).
Also scoring each day were junior Tim Sullivan and sophomore Kevin
Truitt, as they tied for 63rd (81-80=161) and 73rd (84-81=165),
respectively.
Also competing in Wooster’s starting lineup was freshman Greg
Benckart (87-83=170), while teammate Tim Faerber (89-78=167),
another rookie on the team, competed individually.
The Scots continue their spring season with Ohio Wesleyan
University’s Strimer Invitational this Friday and Saturday,
at Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio.
