Scots Finish Eighth at Denison Fall Classic

Sophomore Blake Sword shot a 77 on Saturday and a one-over par 72 Sunday to tie for sixth-place at the Denison Fall Classic in Granville, Ohio, leading The College of Wooster to an eight-place finish over the weekend with a combined 642, just two strokes behind host Denison University.

Wittenberg University claimed the team and individual championships, behind Bleu George, who was the medalist with rounds of 66 and 70 (136). As a team, Wittenberg totaled a 587, which was 20 strokes less than second place DePauw University (607).

Sword was in elite company this weekend as only five other players shot a 72 or better. Also for the Scots, senior Tim Sulivan shot an 80 and 82 (161) and sophomore Michael Peters was close behind with his rounds of 83 and 82 (165), as the two finished tied for 31st and 38th, respectively.

Wooster will be in Delaware, Ohio, next weekend when it competes in the NCAC Fall Invitational on Sept. 12-13.
