Peters Shoots Just One Over Par at John Carroll Invitational

Behind a strong showing from senior Michael Peters, which included an impressive 18-hole round of 71, The College of Wooster golf team finished fifth among eight teams Friday in the John Carroll Invitational at Fowler's Mill Golf Course at Chesterland, Ohio.

Peters finished the 27-hole tournament in 108 strokes, which tied him for sixth best among the 40 individuals in competition. He started with a two over par 37 on the initial nine holes, and then shot a one under par 71 on the final 18, which was only bested by Malone College's Justin Lower, the event's individual medalist.

The Scots carded a 568 as a team, which were 12 strokes more than fourth-place Walsh University. National powerhouse Malone won by a landslide in just 413 strokes, while host John Carroll University took second in 445.

Following Peters, Wooster's other competitors finished extremely close, as Blake Sword, Tim Faerber, and Greg Benckart all shot a 121 during the 27-hole invite. Faerber recorded a solid 37 on the opening nine, and Tim Sullivan (124) logged a three over par 38 on the same set of holes.

Next up for Wooster is the Ted Barclay Classic which takes place in Granville, Ohio next weekend on April 10-11.
