Scots Fourth at Mount Union Fall Invitational
Selby and Sears shoot matching 154’s over 36 holes
Jay Selby and Scott Sears shot matching 154's over 36 holes to help The College of Wooster men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Mount Union Fall Invitational, which was played at the par-72, 6,694-yard Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance, Ohio on Saturday and Sunday.
The Fighting Scots recorded a 627 team score, which was right in the middle of the pack, as they were comfortably in front of Baldwin Wallace University (634) and fellow North Coast Athletic Conference program Hiram College (640), but behind Muskingum College (599), John Carroll University (585), and host and team champions – University of Mount Union (580).
During Saturday's 18, it was Selby that lead the way, as the senior shot a three-over 75. Two other Scots finished in front of Selby on Sunday, though, with Calvin Milligan carding his own 75 and Sears posting a 77, both besting Selby's 79.
In the end, Selby (75-79) and Sears (77-77) each totaled 154, while Milligan (80-75) was one stroke back at 155, Michael Bay (82-82) shot a 164, and first-year Brenden Tully (167) rounded out the scorers with a 167.
The Scots have one more event remaining on the fall portion of their schedule, as they tee off at the BSN Fall Invitational next weekend at Howard, Ohio.
