Scots Wrap Up Fall Action at Kenyon’s BSN Invitational
Wooster takes eighth against highly-competitive field
The College of Wooster's men's golf team finished off the fall portion of its schedule by competing against a large and talented field at the BSN Fall Invitational, which pitted eight North Coast Athletic Conference programs, including host Kenyon College and nationally-ranked Wittenberg University, and three other Ohio schools, in a 36-hole event that saw the Fighting Scots take eighth-place at Howard, Ohio.
For the second consecutive week, Scott Sears and Jay Selby carded identical two-day scores to pace the Fighting Scots. Sears had the most impressive round of the group, as the senior shot a four-over 76 on Sunday across the 6,946-yard Apple Valley Golf Course, and then followed it up with an 83 on Monday for a combined 159.
Selby recorded his 159 with consistent rounds of 79 and 80, which tied him with Sears and a golfer from College of Mount St. Joseph for 30th-place, just inside the top half of the field of 62.
Just one stroke behind Wooster's leaders were Calvin Milligan (79-81) and newcomer Brenden Tully (80-80), who each tied for 33rd with matching 160's, while Michael Bay, who shot a solid 77 on day one, entered the clubhouse tied for 47th with a 164.
The Scots had a promising fall, highlighted by two third-place finishes despite playing without No. 1 player Marcus Carano (studying abroad), and will look to take another step forward when their season continues in the spring.
