The College of Wooster moved up two spots during the second and final event of the 72-hole North Coast Athletic Conference Golf Championship Series, firing a 313 and 307, which marked its third-lowest tournament score of the season (620), on Saturday and Sunday at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio.

Wooster steadily climbed the team standings throughout the NCAC's, starting out in ninth, then moving into eighth the second 36 holes last weekend, and this Saturday's 313 put the Fighting Scots in seventh and they improved one more spot during the last 18.

A 1269 total for Wooster was a single stroke better than long-time rival Ohio Wesleyan University (1270), and had it played to its standard during the first event of the championship series, it would have challenged for a top-five spot in the highly-competitive conference.

While the Scots' Marcus Carano continued his run of 70s in the NCAC's, they received a boost from freshman Brenden Tully as the latter carded a team-low 149 via a 77 and even-par 72. He tied for 14th of the 45 competitors this weekend and was 26th in the 72-hole standings (314).

Carano's 74 and 76 put him a single shot behind Tully for the weekend, and he tied for 16th overall (305).

Calvin Milligan also broke 80 on Sunday, registering a 77, which followed an 81, as he went for a 158 the most recent 36 holes.

Also counting towards the team score this weekend were Michael Bay's 81 Saturday and Scott Sears's 82 on Sunday.

All five players who competed for Wooster during the NCAC Golf Championship Series are expected to return next season, when it will continue to look to move up the standings.
