Wooster Linksters Continue Impressive Fall with Second Consecutive Third-Place Finish

The College of Wooster men's golf team continued its hot start to the fall with a third-place finish out of 17 teams at the Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Invitational held at the Country Club of Meadville in Meadville, Pa. Wooster opened play with a 310 on Sunday, and followed with a 305 on Monday to finish at 615, one shot better than Otterbein University.

First-year Colin O'Hern continued to impress and was in the hunt for medalist honors before settling for eighth-place. O'Hern opened play with a 73 on Sunday and was three shots off the lead. On Monday, the first-year carded a 75 to finish at 148.

Sophomore Evan Jenkins turned in the Scots' low round of the tournament with an even par 72 on Monday. That marked a 19-stroke bounce-back from an uncharacteristic 91 on Sunday. Jenkins' 163 placed him in a tie for 56th-place.

Classmate Evan Ferrara was the Scots' No. 2 man at the tournament in terms of score. Ferrara opened with a 78 on Sunday, and climbed the leaderboard to a tie for 19th-place courtesy of a 77 on Monday.

Junior Raghu Bir Choudhary tied for 41st-place. Choudhary posted a 76 on Sunday - Wooster's second-lowest round of the day. He followed with an 83 to finish at 159.

Sophomore Jimmy Hinton rounded out the lineup with a 164, good for a tie for 60th-place. Hinton improved upon his opening-round 83 with an 81 on Monday.

Senior Brenden Tully competed as an individual in the tournament, and flew up the leaderboard – 17 spots to be exact – thanks to a 75 on Monday. Tully shot a 156 for the 36 holes and tied for 23rd-place.

North Coast Athletic Conference rival Wittenberg University led the way with a 605, one stroke better than Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's 606. RPI's Ryan Quinn earned medalist honors with a 1-under-par 143.

Wooster is back in action at the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic at Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Ind. on Saturday, Sept. 23. Wooster's "B" team will also be in action at the University of Mount Union's Purple Raider Invitational the same day at Tannenhauf Golf Course at Alliance, Ohio.
