O’Hern Named NCAC Golfer-of-the-Week Behind Clutch Finish, Medalist Claim
The first-year is the first Fighting Scot men's golfer since 2012 to garner the weekly conference honor.
First-year Colin O'Hern was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week after capturing medalist honors at the Earlham College Fall Classic on Sunday afternoon at Forest Hills Country Club in Richmond, Ind.
With a playoff-forcing eagle on the par-5, 585-yard 18th hole, O'Hern went on to birdie the first playoff hole and defeat Indiana University-Kokomo's Tyler Fletcher.
After an opening-round 82, the Fighting Scot first-year out of Dennison, Minn. bounced back with a final-round 73 on the 6,427-yard par-71 course, noted for its particularly tough greens.
As a team, Wooster won the tournament, marking its first outright team championship since 2009. Additionally, the Scots' first-place finish marks their third top-three finish through four scoring tournaments this season.
The medalist honor is O'Hern's second of the season after being named a tri-medalist at the season-opening Gatorade Collegiate at Zoar Golf Course in Dover, Ohio. He is also the first Scot since 2012 to garner the league's weekly award.
Wooster concludes its fall schedule at the NCAC Championship Preview on Oct. 15-16 at Westbrook Country Club in Mansfield, Ohio.
