DOVER, Ohio – Evan Ferrara opened his senior year with a 5-under-par 67 – the lowest score in program history since at least 1985 – while The College of Wooster men's golf season got underway with a third-place finish at the Gatorade Collegiate, which was hosted this weekend by the College at the par-72, 6,730-yard Zoar Village Golf Course.

Ferrara was actually 1-over-par after four holes of play on Saturday, but he quickly rebounded with a birdie on the par-4, 390-yard No. 5. That kick-started a stretch of 14 holes, during which the business economics major either birdied or pared. He eventually moved to 5-under-par on the par-4, 340-yard No. 17. Ferrara finished the weekend with a 77, and placed third with an even-par 144.

Sophomore Ben Foltz drained a birdie putt on the par-4, 385-yard No. 9 to make the turn at even-par on Sunday before settling for a 74. Thanks to an opening 75, Foltz tied for seventh-place on the weekend.

Senior Jimmy Hinton's closing 76 marked a three-stroke improvement from Saturday, and that propelled the returning all-conference honoree to a spot in the top-20. Classmate Mac Bellovich followed with a 156, which placed him in a tie for 25th, while senior Evan Jenkins tied for 32nd-place at 159.

Baldwin Wallace University repeated as the team champion with a 595, five strokes clear of runner-up Marietta College. Wooster's 602 was one stroke better than fourth-place Capital University, which had the low team round on Sunday at 299.

Of note, Wooster's had a quartet of 68s since 1985, most recently John Angelo at the 2013 North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.

Next, Wooster's at the Guy Kuhn Invitational, hosted by Allegheny College. Play at the 36-hole tournament is set to start on Sunday, Sept. 8.
