Senior David Roney rang in his 22nd birthday with medalist honors at 1-over-par, and The College of Wooster men's golf team picked up its first two wins of the season by downing Allegheny College and Hiram College on Saturday afternoon at the par-72, 6,545-yard Wooster Country Club.

Roney moved back to even-par for his birthday round with a birdie at the par-3, 168-yard No. 8, and he was at 1-under-par through 14, thanks to a birdie on the par-5, 466-yard 13th hole. The communication sciences and disorders major led the field in par-3 scoring at 2.75 strokes and in par-5 scoring at 4.75 strokes.

Junior Ben Foltz was next, taking second with a 4-over-par 76. Foltz, Wooster's anchor in the lineup, birdied the par-4, 441-yard fifth hole, and was at 1-under-par until the eighth hole. He also made the turn at even-par, and carded a pair of birdies on the back-nine.

First-year Tyler Hilbert, who matched Roney with a 4.75 average on par-5 holes, tied for fourth-place at 79, and like Roney and Foltz, birdied No. 13. In fact, Wooster was zeroed in on that hole, with first-year David Dennis carding an eagle, and all five Scots in the lineup had at least a birdie on No. 13 on Saturday.

Speaking of Dennis, he rounded out Wooster's team score of 314 with an 86, while first-year Jacob Ullom rounded out the lineup with an 87.

First-year Connor Mitchell led the "B" team and individuals with an 83.

Allegheny College was next at 324, while Hiram College rounded out the field at 386.

The same three teams are set to compete again on Sunday with Hiram serving as the host at Sugar Bush Golf Club in Garrettsville, Ohio.
