Home Course Advantage Equates to Third-Place Finish For Scots
Three of Wooster's competitors are from Grove City
GROVE CITY, Ohio – Thursday afternoon marked a homecoming for a trio of College of Wooster men's golfers, as the Fighting Scots competed in the Grove City College Fall Invite, held at the par-72, 6,763-yard Grove City Country Club. The course is the home course of sophomore David Dennis, sophomore Jack Donahue, and first-year Sam Norris.
Wooster, which tied for third-place at 322, was led by first-year Noah Jackman's 78. Jackman, who tied for ninth-place, conquered the par-5 holes, as he went 2-under-par on the day, thanks to birdies on Nos. 16 and 18. Jackman carded three birdies on the day, with his first coming on the par-4, 308-yard sixth hole. Jackman played the back nine at 2-over-par.
Norris' 79 was next, and the Scots' rookie tied for 13th-place on his home track. Norris sank a birdie on the par-4, 363-yard 12th hole, and he pared three of the first four holes on the day. First-year Krishang Nayak's 82 was tied for 24th in the field. Nayak's card had a pair of circles, with his birdies coming on holes seven and 15.
Dennis tied for 30th-place at 83. He had six pars on the back nine, and played that stretch in 3-over-par. Donahue rounded out the lineup with and tied for 51st-place.
Clarion University led the 17-team field at 303. Westminster College was the runner-up at 308. Clarion's Willie Hoover took medalist honors at 1-over-par.
Wooster's right back in action on Saturday at John Carroll University's Dan Caschera Invitational at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio.
