Wooster Runs Away From Hiram in Decisive Match-Play Victory

Jacob Ullom WILLOUGHBY, Ohio – The College of Wooster men's golf team made quick work of Hiram College, winning 4.5-0.5 in a match-play event at the par-70, 6,923-yard Kirtland Country Club on Monday afternoon.

Sophomore Jacob Ullom, fresh off a collegiate-best 2-over-par, continued his hot streak with a 3-and-1 win over Reece Zeigler at the top of the lineup. Ullom was 2-up heading into 17 and then proceeded to have a lower score than Zeigler on the hole to clinch the match.

Wooster's two through four linksters – sophomores Tyler Hilbert, John Varley, and Connor Mitchell – ran away with their respective matches. In fact, all three wrapped their team point up on hole 14. Hilbert downed Dean Hoyle 6-and-4, while Varley and Mitchell won their matches 5-and-4.

Sophomore TJ Harper halved his match against Cole Bates in the fifth position.

Next, Wooster's at John Carroll University's Poppa Flowers Invitational, which is this Saturday at Highland Park Golf Club.
