First-Years Lead Scots to Third-Place Finish at Nye Intercollegiate

Noah Jackman, Wooster Golf WOOSTER, Ohio – Low scores were hard to come by at Sunday's Nye Intercollegiate, where The College of Wooster men's golf team placed third at the par-72, 6,545-yard Wooster Country Club.

Wooster, which shot a 326, was led by first-years Krish Nayak and Noah Jackman, who tied for sixth-place at 80. Nayak's birthday round started with a birdie on the par-5 first hole, and he also birdied the par-4 15th hole. Nayak's second birdie came following three straight pars, and he had a par on 16 and 17. The rookie tied for the field-lead in par-four scoring at 4.3 strokes.

Jackman's round also got off to a roaring start with a birdie on No. 1, and he was just 1-over-par at the turn. The first-year was 1-under-par through three holes, and he had a par on each of the final four holes on the front-nine.

Senior Ben Foltz tied for 16th-place with an 82 in his final home tournament. Foltz birdied his final home hole, and that was part of a five-hole stretch he played at even-par.

Sophomore Tyler Hilbert's 84 rounded out the counting scores. He tied for 26th-place, and tied for second in the field with 10 pars. Classmate Jacob Ullom was one back of Hilbert, and rounded out the lineup by tying for 28th-place.

Sophomores David Dennis and Connor Mitchell led the 10 Scots on the "B" and "C" team with 82s. Mitchell played the par-3 holes at even-par, and he too carded 10 pars on the day.

Otterbein University led the nine-team field with a 320, while Muskingum University's 325 edged out Wooster for runner-up honors. The Fighting Muskies' Cameron Henry was medalist at 73.

Just five of the 58 scores turned in on Sunday were in the 70s.

Next, Wooster competes at Mercyhurst University's Invitational. The two-day event starts on Friday, April 15.
