Scots Continue Spring Slate at Mercyhurst Invitational

Ben Foltz, Wooster Golf NORTH EAST, Pennsylvania – The College of Wooster men's golf team's spring slate continued at the Mercyhurst University Spring Invitational, which was held at the par-72, 6,883-yard Lake View Country Club the last two days. Wooster shot 312-326-638 to finish in a tie for fifth-place with Fairmont State University.

Senior Ben Foltz led the Fighting Scots. His 151 ranked eighth on the weekend. The Scots' lone senior played the back-nine at 1-under-par on Friday, thanks to a birdie on the par-5, 509-yard 13th hole. Foltz had a par on every other hole on the back-nine. In fact, Foltz was 1-under-par spanning holes six through 18, and he had another birdie, with that one coming on number two. Foltz finished the weekend with four birdies overall.

First-year Krish Nayak was next at 158. He tied for 19th-place. Nayak had a pair of 38s on his Friday card, and he was very consistent on the back-nine with seven pars. Nayak had two birdies on the front-nine on Friday, and he logged six pars on that stretch on Saturday.

Sophomore Jacob Ullom went 78-84-162 to tie for 34th-place. Ullom had two birdies on the weekend, including the par-4, 368-yard ninth hole on Friday, which moved him to just 2-over-par for the split.

Sophomores David Dennis and Connor Mitchell rounded out the weekend lineup. Dennis (85-83-168) tied for 47th-place, while Mitchell (89-83-172) had a nice bounce back on Saturday.

Saint Thomas Aquinas College led the nine-team field at 592 and the Spartans' Norman Viron was medalist at 145.

Next, Wooster competes at the North Coast Athletic Conference/Ohio Athletic Conference Challenge. The event is being hosted by Kenyon College at Apple Valley Golf Course April 23-24.
