Towns Leads Scots at John DiCillo Memorial Invitational

Jacob Ullom, Wooster Golf CHARDON, Ohio – The College of Wooster men's golf team's remarkable run of consecutive tournament titles ended at three on Monday, as host John Carroll University claimed top billing at the program's annual Coach John DiCillo Memorial Invitational. Wooster's 318 was fourth among eight scoring teams in the field.

Sophomore Mark Towns was the big bright spot for Wooster, leading the team from the fifth position in the lineup at Sand Ridge Golf Club. Towns' 75 was part of the tie for seventh-place at the par-72, 6,698-yard layout. Towns played the front nine of the shotgun-start round at even par and had a 39 on the back.

Senior Jacob Ullom played well on the front nine with a 37. He had a 42 on the back for a 79, which was tied for 29th-place in the 80-competitor field. Classmate David Dennis, who was playing as an individual in the field, also had a 79, and his 39 was tops among the Scots' eight competitors on the back nine.

First-year Jake Cammarata was next at 81, which was tied for 42nd-place. He had a 40 on the front and a 41 on the back. Senior Tyler Hilbert went 42-41 for an 83, which was tied for 49th-place. First-year Andrew Carey rounded out the lineup with an 84. Carey tied for 54th-place.

The medalist score was 73.

Wooster has two more events left this fall, starting with the Wittenberg University Fall Classic on October 15-16 at Springfield Country Club.
