Carey's Low Round Nets NCAC Weekly Honor
Sophomore shot a collegiate-best 1-under-par 71 on Saturday
Sophomore Andrew Carey's collegiate-low 1-under-par 71 helped land The College of Wooster men's golf team's top finisher at the Malone University Fall Invitational North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday.
Carey tied for seventh-place with a 4-over-par 148 at the par-72, 6,674-yard Tannenhauf Golf Club. It marked Carey's fourth top-10 finish. Carey charged up the leaderboard late with four birdies on Saturday's back nine. Carey's score dropped to even par after a birdie went in on the par-3, 144-yard 15th hole. The fifth birdie of the round found the bottom of the cup on the par-4, 427-yard 17th hole, and Carey closed out the collegiate-low with a par on No. 18.
Carey's performance helped Wooster to a top-three finish in the predominantly Div. II field.
Wooster is back in action on Friday for the start of the Westfield Insurance Companies Invitational.
