Ranck Named NCAC Player of the Week
Senior scores nine times during Wooster's 2-0 start
College of Wooster standout goal-scorer Matt Ranck picked up right where he left off last year, leading the Fighting Scots to a strong start to the season and earning North Coast Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Week honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
In Wooster's season opener at Thiel College Feb. 26, Ranck scored six goals, with three coming during a 56-second span, to lead the Scots to a 19-6 victory. Then against Albion College March 2, the senior attacker recorded another hat trick, the 13th of his career, to propel Wooster to a 12-5 win.
Ranck led the NCAC in goals last season with 45, and looks eager to defend his scoring crown after his efforts last week.
The Scots will look to make it three in a row when they host Washington & Jefferson College (2-1) on Wednesday under the lights (7 p.m.) at John P. Papp Stadium.
