The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team opened the 2018 season with a 10-7 victory over Albion College on Saturday afternoon at Detroit Country Day School in Beverly Hills, Mich.
Senior Ian Brim opened the game's scoring with an unassisted goal just over four minutes in before Albion (0-1) tacked on two straight goals to retake the advantage with 3:21 remaining in the first period.
Minutes before the end of the first stanza, first-year Ted Wells leveled the game with an unassisted goal at the 2:31 mark.
The Britons went up 4-2 just over a minute into the second after a man-up goal from David DiRado and a later unassisted goal from Nickolis Antenucci. Wooster responded, however, with a 2-0 steak of its own to end the half tied at 4-all. Seniors Aidan Crowe and Sam Kuhn tallied the equalizers for Wooster.
After a period-opening goal from Albion's Harrison Palmer to start the third, Wooster totaled a 6-0 run to take a commanding 10-5 lead entering the fourth period.
Kuhn tacked on three of his game-high four goals in the third, followed by a brace from younger brother Cullen Kuhn and an additional tally from Brim.
In the fourth, Albion opened and closed the period with goals, but could not overcome a five-goal fourth-period deficit.
First-year Connor Mangan led the game with five groundballs while Wells accounted for a co-game-high two caused turnovers.
Up next, Wooster (1-0) travels to Otterbein University (0-1) on Wednesday, Feb. 28 for a 7 p.m. start.
