The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team struggled to come back from another early quarter deficit as they fell to Baldwin Wallace University 15-11 on Wednesday.

Joe Altieri and Cullen Kuhn led the way for Wooster each three goals each. However, they were countered by four-goal performances from Ben Kubiak and Chad Steinwachs.

Altieri gave Wooster the first goal of the game, but that would be their only goal of the period. They held a 1-0 lead for almost six minutes until Kubiak scored on back-to-back goals to give Baldwin Wallace its first lead. 

The Yellow Jackets would tally two more goals in the final two minutes of the period and led 4-1.

The Scots got right back into it to begin the second quarter as Altieri scored again and Kuhn found his first score. With later goals in the period from Altieri, Drake Nickolaison and Shaun Peirce, Wooster won the period 5-4 and cut the deficit to 8-6 at halftime.

Baldwin Wallace held a one-goal advantage in the next two periods as Wooster could not quite overtake the Yellow Jackets.

Kuhn scored the only two goals in the third for the Scots. Cooper Pewitt found the back of the net twice in the fourth as did Peirce for his second goal of the game.

Wooster outshot the Yellow Jackets 49-29, and the two teams split in faceoffs. Wooster had 36 ground balls to Baldwin Wallace's 34. The Scots were also 18-of-23 on clear attempts and 2-for-4 in man up opportunities.

Wesley Wagner made eight saves in the loss.

Baldwin Wallace moves to 6-2, while Wooster drops to 2-7. The Scots return to North Coast Athletic Conference action Saturday when they travel to DePauw University.
