A high octane first quarter set the stage for Sunday's duel between The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team and John Carroll University. Unfortunately for the Scots, it was John Carroll who came out on top 18-11.

Thirteen goals were scored in the first period as Wooster took a 7-6 lead after 15 minutes

Just 11 seconds into the contest, John Carroll's Cam Gerard would score the game's first goal.

The Blue Streaks took a 4-2 lead within the first five minutes as Wooster received goals from Shaun Peirce and Noah Plotkin, his first of the year.

Wooster soon tied it with goals from Cooper Pewitt and Drake Nickolaison. John Carroll pulled ahead with a goal, but it was short lived as Connor Mangan tied the game, and Ted Wells gave the Scots the lead.

The teams traded goals once more as the period came to a close as Cullen Kuhn scored with 32 seconds left to make it 7-6.

The offense quieted down for the Scots from there. The game's next goal came from John Carroll midway through the second quarter, but once again, Wooster was there with an answer behind a goal from Pewitt.

The final two minutes of the quarter hurt the Scots as John Carroll's Kevin Hack tied the game at 8-8 and Skyler Blake gave the Blue Streaks a 9-8 lead at halftime.

John Carroll distanced themselves even more in the second half. They outscored Wooster 4-2 in the third quarter for a 13-10 lead. A 5-1 fourth quarter made it 18-11. Pewitt, Kuhn and Wells all scored in the second half for the Scots.

Pewitt led the Scots with three goals and two assists. Wells and Kuhn each scored twice. Wesley Wagner made 11 saves in the loss in net.

Ollie Jimba led the squad with 10 groundballs. He also was 20-of-31 in faceoff opportunities. Plotkin and Max Livingston added five groundballs as well.

Collectively, Wooster had 34 groundballs and was successful on 18-of-24 clear attempts. The  Blue Streaks outshot the Scots 45-40.

John Carroll improves to 3-1. Wooster snaps a two-game winning streak and is now 2-2.

Next, Wooster heads to Florida for a pair of games, starting with Catholic University on Wednesday.
