USILA Div. III Scholar All-America Release

Wes Wagner, a 2020 College of Wooster alumnus and four-year starting goalkeeper for the men's lacrosse team, was recently added to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Warrior and New Balance Div. III Scholar All-America Team.

Wagner, the first Fighting Scot men's lacrosse player to earn a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, took over as the starting 'keeper just three games into his college career, and he made 55 career starts. Wagner's 624 saves are the second-most in program history, and he ranked third in the North Coast Athletic Conference in 2019 with 216 saves, a season in which he earned All-NCAC honors. The Scots' 'keeper made a career-high 23 saves against Wittenberg University in 2019, a game in which the Scots topped the Tigers 8-7, and in doing so, secured a spot in the NCAC Tournament.

A chemistry alumnus, Wagner graduated with a 3.8 GPA and was a three-time member of the NCAC Academic Honor Roll. He's currently pursuing a Ph.D. in chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis.

Wagner is Wooster's first selection since alumnus Matt Pullara in 2011. The USILA Scholar All-America program was established in 1989, and recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically, and as citizens of their communities.
