Kavanagh Collects 100th win as Scots Handle Terriers Again

Head coach P.J. Kavanagh picked up his 100th collegiate win on Saturday as The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team defeated Hiram College, 26-2.

Wooster had little problem with the Terriers once again after claiming a 29-1 win on Wednesday. In Saturday's outing, Wooster scored the first 20 goals and led 16-0 at halftime.

Myles Brown and Sam Cook scored four goals each to lead the way. Vinny DiLeo was responsible for a game-high five assists including the first two of the game when he found Ted Wells and Shaun Peirce for early goals.

From there, Connor Mangan scored his first of two goals in the game. Wells connected on a highlight goal to make it 5-0.

Brown scored twice in the final six minutes of the period, while DiLeo and Shane Wallace added goals to put the Scots ahead 9-0 after one.

Peirce scored the first two goals of the second, including the game's only man-up goal. The scoring was spread throughout the remaining of the half with Ben Kennedy scoring twice and goals from Brown, DiLeo and Mangan.

Grant Sorensen got into the scoring column with his two goals coming in the third. Atticus MoatsGrant SorensenJimmy Paranzino all tallied a goal in the third.

Henry McMahon scored the last goal of the third and the first of the fourth. Cook closed out the game for the Scots with their three final goals before Hiram tallied a goal with just five seconds remaining.

Keeper Adam Meyer got the win in goal. He did not allow a goal or make a save. Paul Chandler and Noah Levy also saw time in net.

Wooster outshot the Terriers 77-11. The Scots were also 20-of-29 in faceoffs won with Jimmy Fisher going 17-for-24.

Wooster collected 58 ground balls. Fisher had nine of them, while Shane Epstein-Petrullo collected six. Wooster also was 18-of-19 in clear attempts.

Wooster moves to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in division play within the NCAC. Hiram drops to 1-3 and 0-2 in the NCAC.

Wooster hosts Allegheny College on Tuesday.
