Senior Salute: Bryce Danovskis
German major is a member of the men’s lacrosse team
Throughout the spring and summer, we'll be honoring our senior student-athletes with a "Senior Salute" series. Today's featured senior is Bryce Danovskis, a German major from Niagara Falls, New York. Danovskis is a member of the men's lacrosse team.
Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I chose to attend Wooster because of its location and distance from my home. I fell in love with the College after my first visit.
Q: What does it mean to you to be a Fighting Scot student-athlete?
A: It means a lot to me knowing I'm a part of a group of students who excel on the field and in the classroom.
Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: My favorite memory is a lacrosse memory where Coach (P.J.) Kavanagh thought it would be a solid idea for team bonding and conditioning to plow the field with these old wooden benches.
Q: What's the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: Getting to my senior year and becoming a leader. Even though I don't wear a "C" on my jersey and wasn't named an actual captain, it's important I pass down all the information I can.
Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I am a German tutor and a member of various language clubs on campus.
Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Dr. (Ross) Etherton, even though he is no longer at the College. He showed me how cool languages, like German and Spanish, can be. He's the reason I'm a German major at the College.
Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: My Independent Study is on what it meant to be a child in Germany during the most important periods of German history.
Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: We collaborated with Hiram College, Kenyon College, and Oberlin College on a project in one of my German classes.
Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what is one piece of advice you would give your first-year (freshman) self?
A: Just be yourself and speak your mind. It's important to have a voice, especially at Wooster.
