Senior Salute: Tyler Schroeder
Political science major is a member of men's lacrosse team
Throughout the spring semester, we are honoring our senior student-athletes with a "Senior Salute" series. Today's featured senior is Tyler Schroeder, a political science major from Granville, Ohio. Schroeder is a member of the men's lacrosse team.
Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I wanted to continue playing a sport while receiving a good education.
Q: What does it mean to you to be a Fighting Scot student-athlete?
A: To me, it means being a part of something bigger than yourself and holding yourself accountable on and off the field.
Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: My favorite memories are hanging out with all my friends, living in Hider and Yost with my brothers, working on Independent Study, and club ice hockey games.
Q: What's the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: The discipline that it requires.
Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I am a member of the club ice hockey team.
Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Dr. Kent Kille because he pushed me to be better academically and helped me realize what I wanted to major in.
Q: Which other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people/resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: The pre-law advisors in APEX (Wooster's center for Advising, Planning, and Experiential Learning) and Amy Franklin-Craft.
Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: I'm looking at the relationship between a belief in American exceptionalism and compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: Last summer I interned in D.C. working on behalf of Age-Friendly D.C. and Mayor Muriel Bowser's office.
Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what is one piece of advice you would give your first year (freshman) self?
A: Have more fun and don't take yourself too seriously.
