The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team was among 68 NCAA Div. III programs that qualified for the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Academic Team Award.
In addition, Casey Steffen and Vinny DiLeo were named 2024 USILA Div. III Scholar All-Americans.
To qualify for the team award, teams must achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Scots, who have earned the honor now in back-to-back years, joined Kenyon College and Denison University as the lone North Coast Athletic Conference schools selected.
The duo of Steffen and DiLeo recently played together in the USILA Div. III Senior All-Star Game.
For Steffen, he adds to his accolades this year after being named a USILA All-America Honorable Mention and a member of the All-North Coast Athletic Conference First Team. The senior ranked third nationally with 3.61 caused turnovers per game.
His classmate DiLeo was a two-time All-NCAC performer and one of only two players in program history to log 100 assists and 100 goals. His 226 career points and his 103 career assists are third all-time in program history.
This is the first time Wooster has had two USILA Scholar All-Americans in the same year and first since 2021 when Shaun Peirce was an honoree. Overall, Wooster now has five all together.
Wooster finished 11-7 this season with an exit in the semifinal of the NCAC Tournament.
