Senior Salute - Bill Holtzer
Business economics major is member of men's lacrosse team
Our "Senior Salute" series continues with Bill Holtzer from the men's lacrosse team. Holtzer is a business economics major from Akron, Ohio.
Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I chose Wooster for the small classroom sizes and challenging academic environment that will help prepare me for my career and life beyond college. I also chose Wooster for the opportunity to play the sport I love at the collegiate level with a tight knit group of guys.
Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: It means being a person who can master all facets of their lives from academics to athletics, and most importantly, the relationships we make along the way.
Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: Some of my favorite memories come from spending time with my teammates whether we are in Lowry, in someone's common area, or on long bus rides.
Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: The lifelong brotherhood I get to form with my teammates.
Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I volunteered with the Homework for Hoops program where we help local students with homework and play sports with them. I am the president of the College of Wooster Ice Hockey Club.
Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Dr. Peter Abramo for not only being a great professor who is passionate about what is taught, but also for being a great person outside of the classroom.
Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: The entire economics department for being diligent in preparing us in the classroom and for our futures beyond the classroom.
Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: I am looking at if it is more affordable for households to rent or buy a home within a five-year tenure period.
Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: Going to the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament for my first time my junior year was an amazing experience I'll never forget.
Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: Have fun and do not take things too seriously. It goes by quickly, so cherish every moment.
