Wooster Wins Second Straight And Gives Muskingum Its First Loss

Max Hill opened scoring for Wooster with his first goal of the year.

The College of Wooster men's soccer team picked up another big win on Saturday after defeating Muskingum University 3-1.

After scoring three goals in their first six games, the Scots have now had back-to-back 3-1 wins against formidable opponents. Saturday it was against the Muskies, who entered undefeated at 6-0, and Wednesday it was against 12th-ranked Capital University.

Junior Max Hill scored his first goal since his freshman campaign to put the Scots on the board in the 12th minute. However, a free kick from 25 yards out by Omar Lahbiki tied the game again in the 27th minute.

Wooster was able to retake the lead before halftime when Zacharias Andreou's shot bounced off the goalie's hands, and senior Paulo Nunes was there to clean it up for the score. It was Nunes's first goal of the season and what would wind up being the game-winner.

Just a few minutes into the second half, Manny Burton led Bennett Anderson to an open area and the sophomore was able to make it a 3-1 game and collect his second goal of the season.

Senior keeper Will Collis made two saves for his third win in net. The Scots outshot Muskingum 14-6 and also held the corner advantage 5-1.

Wooster is now 3-5 overall and will travel to Bluffton University on Wednesday.
