Scots Dominate Tigers in 8-0 win

Langston Hood One game out after scoring his first goal, junior Langston Hood responded with his first hat trick, leading The College of Wooster men's soccer team to a dominating 8-0 win against Wittenberg University on Saturday.

Hood capitalized early after earning a penalty kick in the fifth minute to make it a 1-0 game. He created another opportunity in the 24th minute, beating the defense on the left side and scoring with his left foot.

He finished off his hat trick in the Scots' six-goal second half, scoring in the 58th minute off an assist from Max Wiley.

Before Hood's third goal, Kyle Stringer scored his third of the year off an assist from BJ Tally. Just over a couple minutes later, Dani Halbing did enough to score off a long throw in from Caleb King.

Wiley got into the scoring column off an assist from Stringer in the 61st minute. It was his fifth of the year.

Wooster then had a pair of first-time goals in the final 10 minutes behind first-year Walker Johnson and sophomore Connor Hall. Johnson's goal was assisted by first-year Louis Sehr.

Sophomore keeper Jason Prather made a save in 64:14 to collect the win. Senior Hamilton Schattgen played the final 25:46 and made two saves.

Wooster outshot Wittenberg 21-9. Wooster's eight goals was a first since 2012 when they defeated Penn State Bever 9-1.

Wooster moves to 8-5-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Wittenberg drops to 6-5-3 overall and 1-3-1 in conference play.

The Scots are on the road for its next three games. They travel to Kenyon College on Tuesday.
