Men's and Women's Soccer Teams Earn United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

Men's and Women's soccer award winners Both The College of Wooster men's and women's soccer teams recently collected the United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 academic year.

Wooster was one of 130 schools where both the men's and women's programs received recognition. Ohio Wesleyan University was the only other North Coast Athletic Conference school to join Wooster in the double honor.

A total of 746 teams posted a grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn the award. 220 came from the men's side, while 382 filled the women's pool.

The 2021 men's team posted a 3.32 composite GPA, and the women posted a 3.48 composite GPA. Both teams have shared academic success and recognition throughout the year.

Earlier, the women tied with The College's women's track and field team with 17 honorees for the NCAC Academic Honor Roll. The men joined the women as one of 13 programs at The College to have at least 50 percent eligible nominees qualify.

The teams also had individuals headline Wooster's academic achievements with NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients in Wilson Freije and Miura Wiley, while Alexa Bencic was voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® team.
