CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The College of Wooster men's soccer team fell to Wabash College 5-0 on Saturday.
The Scots are in the middle of a tough stretch of North Coast Athletic Conference opponents. After opening conference play with two wins, Wooster now finds themselves at 7-7-1 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
The Wabash (9-3-2, 2-1-1 NCAC) attack started with its first goal following aa corner kick in the 18th minute as Jose Escalante scored after the initial battle for possession.
Not satisfied, Escalante scored again 10 minutes later thanks to an assist from Angel Vazquez.
Wabash continued to pour it on when they scored via a penalty kick in the 36th minute as Bruno Zamora made it a 3-0 game. It became 4-0 before halftime when Wabash got another goal through via a score from Bryce Kinnaman.
The second half was played scoreless until the 84th minute when Ben Wallace made it a 5-0 game.
Senior Andrew Beazley made two saves in the first half, while classmate Gabriel Thomas played the second half and made one save.
Wabash outshot Wooster 20-11 including a 14-3 mark in its first half attack. Wabash also took seven corner kicks to Wooster's three.
Next, Wooster (7-7-1, 2-3 NCAC) will travel to Ohio Wesleyan University on Oct. 26. Ohio Wesleyan (9-3-2, 4-0-1 NCAC) plays the Little Giants earlier in the week on Oct. 23.
