Tenth-ranked Denison University stayed true to its ranking on Wednesday as they defeated
The College of Wooster men's soccer team 2-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference play.
Denison moves atop the NCAC rankings with its 11th win overall and sixth in conference play. Wooster falls to 7-9 overall with a 2-5 NCAC record.
Denison's first goal was scored in the 16th minute on a header near the left post by Zarius Eusebe who received a spot-on cross from Justin Crow.
Wooster tried to respond quickly and got a shot attempt off 20 seconds later, but Walker Johnson's shot went left.
Another header resulted in Denison's second score as Henri Heyes scored in the 25th minute. This time it came from a corner kick from Kameron Kist, who found Heyes near the right post.
Wooster had another good look at a score with about 12 minutes remaining but this time it was a shot by Connor Shea that was saved.
The teams played to a scoreless second half as both teams took five shots in the final 45 minutes.
For the game, Denison outshot Wooster 16-9. However, Wooster took six corner kicks to Denison's four.
Gabriel Thomas made five saves in the start for the Fighting Scots.
Wooster will wrap up its season Saturday when they host DePauw University.
