The College of Wooster men's tennis team remained perfect
in its 2009 non-conference schedule following a 9-0 win over
Otterbein College on Thursday evening at the Clements Recreation
Center in Westerville, Ohio. With the win, the Fighting Scots
improve to 3-0 overall on the young season, while the Cardinals
fall to 2-4.
The Scots swept through the doubles competition to begin the match,
with the doubles teams of Pat Grab and Ethan Arenstein (8-6) at No.
1, Jeremy Dominik and Matt Hoch (8-2) at No. 2, and Brad Palanski
and Chris Collen (8-3) in the No. 3 slot all prevailing.
Wooster rolled through the singles matches as well, with Grab at
No. 1 posting a 6-1, 6-1 decision, No. 2 Dominik winning 6-4, 6-0,
while Arenstein at No. 3 was pushed to the limit after losing the
first set 6-2, but pulled off scores of 6-4 in the second set
and 6-3 in the decisive set for the win.
The bottom half of the Scots' singles lineup also swept in
straight sets, with Hoch cruising at No. 4 (7-5, 6-1), Palanski
coming out on top at No. 5 (6-4, 6-1) and Collen notching a victory
at No. 6 (6-0, 6-3).
Wooster will be off until it begins its spring break trip in Hilton
Head, S.C. with a 3 p.m. match on Thursday, March 12 against
Transylvania University.
