In its final tune-up before this weekend's Great Lakes
Colleges Association Tournament, The College of Wooster pulled out
a 6-3 decision over John Carroll University during a non-conference
men's tennis contest Wednesday afternoon.
The hosts Scots (11-2) swept the doubles competition. Pat Grab and
Ethan Arenstein at No. 1 and Brad Palanski and Chris Colleen at No.
3 of Wooster each prevailed by identical 8-4 scores. The closest
match of the day came at No. 2, as the team of Jeremy Dominik and
Matt Hoch won by a 9-8 score, including 7-5 in the tiebreaker.
Coming out on the short end at the top of the lineup, Dominik
improved his season record to 9-3 with a convincing victory at No.
2 (6-1, 6-3).
The Blue Streaks (6-8) drew to within a 4-3 score taking the No. 3
and No. 4 singles' matches. However, the Scots claimed the
final two points of the match with straight-set victories by Matt
Mandell in the fifth slot with a 6-4, 6-0 win, and Palanski at No.
6 with scores of 6-2, 6-2.
Wooster takes on Hope College (7-5) in the first match of the GLCA
Tournament on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m.
