College of Wooster seniors Pat Grab (Erie, Pa. / Cathedral Prep)
and Jeremy Dominik (Saint Marys, Ohio / Memorial) were both named
to the 2009 All-North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis
Team as singles players, with Grab earning second-team accolades
and Dominik honorable mention, the NCAC office announced late
Monday. It marked the first all-conference awards for Grab and
Dominik.
Grab, a baseliner with a big serve, started at the top of the
lineup for Wooster in every match this year, winning 10 matches at
No. 1 (10-12) while competing against some of the best players from
across the NCAA Div. III Central Region. He wound up with a career
singles record of 37-32. Grab also played all 23 matches at No. 1
doubles this season, accumulating a 12-11 mark.
Dominik won a team-leading 13 singles matches (13-7) as the No. 2
player. He strung together a seven-match win streak early on and
also closed strong with victories in both of his NCAC Tournament
matches that were completed. Dominik, who was part of 14 doubles
wins (14-7) this spring as well, finishes with a 34-27 career
singles record.
The duo helped the Fighting Scots to a 15-8 record, marking the
fourth time in the last six years they've won 15-plus
matches. Wooster took sixth-place at the NCAC Tournament.
