The College of Wooster dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 23 ranked
Denison University in men's tennis action Wednesday inside
the Mitchell Recreation and Athletic Center at Granville, Ohio. It
marked the Fighting Scots' regular season finale, as
they'll immediately focus on the North Coast Athletic
Conference Tournament this coming weekend.
Despite losing 9-0 for the first time all season, there were some
bright spots for Wooster (14-6). At No. 1, Pat Grab and Ethan
Arenstein posed a challenge to the eighth-ranked doubles team in
the NCAA Div. III Central Region before falling 8-6. Additionally,
several of the singles matches were close, highlighted by Steve
Conroy's effort at No. 5, in which he pushed his opponent to
a 6-3, 7-5 score.
There is still one dual match remaining to determine the brackets
for the NCAC tourney, however, it is likely that the Scots'
quarterfinal match will be versus Wabash College (9-14) on Friday
at 11 a.m., on the campus of Kenyon College.
