Scots Cruise Past Tiffin 7-2 in Regular Season Home Finale

The College of Wooster men's tennis team ran its win streak to two matches and improved to 13-4 on the season during its regular season home finale, as it handed visiting Tiffin University a 7-2 setback Thursday afternoon at D.J. Hard Memorial Courts.

The Fighting Scots began the afternoon winning two of three points in the doubles portion of the contest, but it didn't come easy. The No. 1 doubles team of Pat Grab and Ethan Arenstein earned the point via a 7-5 win in the tiebreaker against Harry Smith and Andres Torres. The No. 2 tandem of Brad Palanski and Chris Collen cruised in their match 8-2, before the Dragons secured their point in the No. 3 match.

At No. 1 singles, Grab won the first set against Smith by a 7-5 score, but Smith answered back in the second set with a 6-3 win. However, Grab outlasted Smith in the super tiebreaker, winning by a 10-7 tally giving Wooster a 3-1 edge. The Dragons (1-21) would bounce back to take No. 2 singles and earn what proved to be their second point of the afternoon.

The Scots took control of the match and rolled through the Nos. 3-6 matches, with Arenstein (6-3, 6-3), Conroy (6-1, 6-1), Matt Mandell (6-1, 6-3) and Palanski (6-1, 6-0) each coming away with decisive victories.

Wooster will be busy this weekend, as they head continue North Coast Athletic Conference Eastern division play when they to Kenyon College (13-7, 0-0 NCAC East) on Saturday, followed on Sunday with a trip to Wittenberg University (13-5, 2-1 NCAC West).
