Hoch, Wooster Edge Out Ohio Wesleyan 5-4

WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster men's tennis team traded blows with Ohio WesleyanOhio Wesleyan University on Thursday, but kept its winning streak alive in the end, edging out the Battling Bishops 5-4 at the Central Tennis & Fitness Club.

Leading the way at No. 1 singles was Matt Hoch who improved to 3-0 on the season, winning his match 6-1, 6-4 to set the tone. Hoch also teamed with Ethan Arenstein in No. 1 doubles action to top their opponents 8-9 (9-7) in a tiebreaker.

Also picking up Wooster wins were Matt Mandell and Brad Palanski at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Mandell went the distance to upend his opponent 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, and Palanski was solid in notching a 6-3, 6-4 triumph. Mandell and Palanski also claimed another win at No. 3 doubles (8-6).

The Fighting Scots (3-0) will continue their season on Mar. 11 when they battle Brevard College (0-2) in the opening match of their annual spring break trip at Hilton Head, S.C.
