Wooster Drops First NCAC Divisional Match of the Year to Kenyon

In a North Coast Athletic Conference East Division match-up that was moved inside Sunday to the Central Tennis & Fitness Club due to cool, wet weather, KenyonKenyon College, ranked No. 9 nationally in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Div. III poll, rolled past The College of Wooster 9-0.

Wooster (6-9, 1-1 NCAC East) received a strong effort from Matt Mandell and Steve Conroy at the third doubles position, as they won four games before settling for an 8-4 setback.

With a 3-0 lead after the doubles, Kenyon (15-6, 2-0 NCAC East) was relentless, yielding just 12 games combined during the singles competition. For the Fighting Scots, Matt Hoch and Sam Susanin each took three games at No. 1 (6-1, 6-2) and No. 6 (6-3, 6-0), respectively.

Wooster will face another stiff challenge on Wednesday, as regionally-ranked DenisonDenison University (15-3) visits for the Scots' home finale at 4 p.m.
