Scots’ No. 1 Doubles Team Takes Down Regional Power Denison

Matt Hoch and Ethan Arenstein joined forces for quite possibly the best win of the season for The College of Wooster men's tennis team, as the No. 1 doubles tandem scored a team point during Wednesday afternoon's match with traditional power DenisonDenison University, but the Fighting Scots ultimately fell 8-1 to the No. 9 ranked squad in the NCAA Div. III Central Region.

Hoch and Arenstein extended Denison's Jared Connolly and Tim Martin to a tiebreaker, and then prevailed 8-6 in the 'breaker. The Big Red's duo had been 11-5 on the season, while Hoch and Arenstein improved to 7-7 overall, and Wooster (6-10) was within 2-1 after doubles play.

While the final team score may not indicate it, the Scots played one of their best matches of the year. Three of the singles matches were closely contested, highlighted by Brad Palanski's 6-2, 6-4 effort at the No. 5 position.

Wooster will look to convert Wednesday's positive momentum into a victory when it travels northeast to North Coast Athletic Conference East Division foe Allegheny College (9-8, 0-0 NCAC East) on Thursday.
