Men's Tennis Sweeps Otterbein 9-0 Behind Five Double Winners

WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster men's tennis team continued its early season success Wednesday, as the Fighting Scots swept Otterbein College 9-0 at the Central Tennis & Fitness Club, which included a decisive 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.

Matt Hoch earned his second-consecutive win at No. 1 singles this season, this time via a 6-0, 6-2 triumph, and Steve Conroy was victorious in No. 2 action, winning in a super tie-breaker 3-6, 6-2, 10-5.

Hoch also teamed up with Ethan Arenstein to claim an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, and the team of Conroy and Ashvin Reddy were winners in the No. 2 spot (8-5). Matt Mandell and Brad Palanski secured an 8-1 doubles win as well, and then took individual wins at No. 3 (6-4, 6-0) and No. 5 singles (6-3, 6-0), respectively.

Rounding out the match was Reddy at No. 4 singles, who won a competitive opening set 7-5, and then rolled to a 6-0 second set victory, and Sam Susanin who was solid at No. 6 singles (6-1, 6-1).

Wooster will battle North Coast Athletic Conference challenger Ohio WesleyanOhio Wesleyan University (3-2, 1-1 NCAC) at home next Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
