Scots Topped 6-3 by Otterbein Despite Solid Singles Effort

Landon Moore and Zack Rotter won their respective matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but The College of Wooster dropped its three doubles matches at the onset, and was unable to comeback in a 6-3 setback to Otterbein College Wednesday at the Central Tennis & Fitness Club in Wooster, Ohio.

The Scots (2-1) dug themselves into a 3-0 hole early by getting swept in doubles action, although No. 3 duo Ryan Shutt and Jonathan Smith pushed their opponents to the brink in a close 8-6 decision.

From there, Wooster split its six singles contests with Otterbein, including victories in both headlining matches. Moore topped his opponent at No. 1 (6-3, 4-6, 6-2), and at No. 2, Rotter bounced back from a rough first set to secure a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Also notching a win in singles action was No. 6 Phillipe Carter, via a decisive 6-1, 6-1 outcome.

Wooster will battle Wabash College (4-1) on Sunday in Oberlin, Ohio at 1 p.m.
